Kidocky

Time made easy for kids and for parents too

Kidocky is an educational tool for children aged 3 to 7, which helps them understand time and the moments of the day. Being a 24-hour clock, where the numbers are changed to animals, the children realize that when the hand reaches the lion's hour, it's time to go to lunch. This makes the children more independent and less anxious.

This is a teaching tool that helps children to become more independent as they grow up. It can be applied both in their homes and in the institutions they attend, which is why Kidocky has springs for running a home routine, as well as springs for running a more institutional routine, such as schools. Kidocky's mission is present in children's futures.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Kidocky was created by two parents who realized how difficult it is to explain to children the time of day, the passage of time and the organization of events throughout the day. This is how Kidocky was born, where children understand the notion of time, the moments of the day and, consequently, which tasks they have to do and when. From this understanding, parenting improves at incredible levels.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

A clock that helps children manage their routines, helping them to become calmer and more autonomous.
An original and innovative product developed in partnership with educationalists, it allows children to understand the notion of time and the moments of their daily activities, with the help of the tasks (springs) that kidocky already *brings*.
We make it possible for children from the age of 3 to graphically understand the structure of an entire day long before they know number forms.
This ability to predict the succession of events throughout the day gives the child an important sense of security, promoting self-regulation, autonomy and responsibility.
Designed to accompany the child's growth, there are 3 phases, each more complex than the last.
When it's time for a task
When it's time of an animal, this represents an hour of the day
When it's time of a transport, is a quarter of an hour
In this way, kids know their own times

How has it been spreading?

The watch, being an innovative and promising product, has a lot of influence when people get to know it. It spreads on social networks, especially Instagram. Users in the same niche like to share their ideologies with Kidocky. We have outdoor advertising, which gives the website more visibility, and we also have networkings where we spread Kidocky in different environments. People share the project a lot, from word to word.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Our product is for sale online, which means that anyone from anywhere in the world can have it. When you receive the product, all you have to do is put an AA battery in the clock's motor to start it working and set the tasks (which come with it) for your children at the right times.

Implementation steps

Objectives and Goals
Promoting a positive impact on children's growth and development is the purpose for which Kidocky was developed. The goal is therefore to spread the watch to as many children as possible, to the point where this impact reaches the four corners of the world.
Project stages
Kidock Stuff is a young company, a "child" of the pandemic, where two good friends, João Moura (engineer) and Marcelo Caetano (designer), got together to create a tool that could help with the organization, routine and autonomy of their children. In creating Kidocky, the concept was formed from Parenting, Pedagogy and Education. In terms of functionality, we rely on suppliers from wood to printing. In order to expand the product, we have a team trained from product promotion to sales.
Activities and tasks
We have a vast team of suppliers, from the wood, the hands, the motors and the printing, all made in Portugal. When we receive the materials, all the products are finished/assembled by the team that promotes and sells the Kidocky's. At the same time as being present on social media, this team trains educators to ensure that Kidocky is well implemented in schools, bringing together the conditions for partnerships in different categories.
Resources needed
The personal resources are related to the assembly and development of Kidocky in the digital part, for its propagation. To do this, we use our online store, email marketing, social networks and online meetings. To finance the project, part of the funds come from the founders' investment and part from the sale of the product.
Cronograma
Our products take no more than a week to complete, from woodworking to cutting and printing. In one day of assembly, with one person, 40 Kidockys (Kidocky + shipping box) are produced. On sale, the product is delivered within 2 to 3 days nationally (Portugal), internationally 3 to 7 working days.
Milestones of Progress
To measure the progress Kidocky has made along the way, we rely on website analysis, where we can detect channels, locations and devices. This tool helps us to control the dissemination of the product digitally. When it comes to spreading the word, we rely on testimonials from people who have had experience with Kidocky or who have heard about it from someone. Partnerships and the like are also an important factor to report, as they are our channels to other types of audience.
Risks and Mitigations
The biggest risk Kidocky faces compared to any other physical product is in its transportation. Kidocky has its (original) box, plus its transportation box, to protect the product as much as possible. In addition, the (original) box already comes with protection for the hands and the tasks are also covered.
Communication and Monitoring
As a team of 0-5 employees, communication is our strong point. We rely on everyone's help to ensure that the product is produced and delivered in the best possible conditions. The monitoring processes are more related to the suppliers, where within the team, we are always paying attention to which supplier provides the best conditions for both the company and the future customer.
