About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Social emotional learning is the most important aspect of learning in schools. The purpose of education is to develop critically conscious human beings, I.e., to develop soul in the context of education experiences. Bubble time is a potent tool that connects an educator with the learner, often opening up vistas of education for the educator himself/herself.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Every week at least three bubble time are held over 30 mins in person or online. A record of feelings, fears, joys and strengths is maintained by the teacher in a special notebook that gets to pass to new teachers taking over or might form the basis for Learning for the Individual1. !

How has it been spreading?

It started off in the primary section of the school but is now a firm part of the middle and senior school curriculum. Bubble time can be asked for by the learners whenever they wish. Teachers also schedule bubble times with their own mentors.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

All you need to do is to provide time for holding these 30 mins sessions for each child within the school time-table or to allow the facilitators to reach out to them online. Maintain a bubble time notebook so that these conversations do not get lost when the mentor or facilitator changes.

Implementation steps

Conducting Bubble times
1. Set up an individual 20 min session with the learner at least once in 2 months
2. Meet offline or online and have a discussion in no particular order
3. Journal the emotions, strengths, needs in the bubble time note book
4. Discuss among the teachers of the group to seek mentoring and counselling suggestions
