UNDER THE MOON MUSIC VIDEO PROJECT

Connecting children across the globe with a song.

Under the Moon Music Video Project unites diverse groups of children through the vehicle of a song. The metaphorical lyrics and melody provide a unique framework to foster connection, empathy, acceptance and respect. Through rehearsal, performance and the creation of the music video children find common ground and friendship while exploring the character, culture and country of each group.

I have seen amazing relationships grow and transformation through the creative arts process of the UNDER THE MOON PROJECT. Children from very different worlds come together as one with music as the powerful springboard for creating long lasting cultural connections, compassion, respect and friendship.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Creating the song UNDER THE MOON during the pandemic was my way to foster connection between children in Uganda and the Virgin Islands. I wanted to help them feel less isolated, so I was able to virtually rehearse, conduct performances and produce a music video, right from my home. This experience was the debut of the UNDER THE MOON MUSIC VIDEO PROJECT.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Project Phases:
A. Preparation
(staff meetings, schedule coordination,
technical and space preparation)
B. Rehearsal Process
(vocal, dance, & instrumental)
C. Partnership building, Sharing & Discussion
D. Performances
E. Making of the Music Video
F. Editing Process (sound and visual)

How has it been spreading?

I have been working on finding an international organization to adopt this project. I am conducting the project
on my own right now, but want it to expand. I am the creator, director and facilitator - and plan to stay more involved in working in the field with children -

If I want to try it, what should I do?
