Helsinki Education Week Part of the Side Events for Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union

Helsinki Education Week has been admitted to the official list of side events of Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2019. The week’s series of events will highlight the work carried out in Helsinki daycare centers, schools, and other educational institutions.

We are thrilled to share that Helsinki Education Week has been admitted to the official list of side events of Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The second Helsinki Education Week will be held 4–8 November 2019. The week’s series of events will highlight the work carried out in Helsinki daycare centers, schools, and other educational institutions. Last year’s Helsinki Education Week comprised more than 120 learning events held throughout the city. A large part of the program is organized with international education experts and innovators.

“We’re delighted that we will again be able to present our pedagogical expertise to a larger and an international audience this year. We’re very proud of our education professionals and the work carried out in our educational institutions,” says Liisa Pohjolainen, Executive Director of the City of Helsinki Education Division.

Finland’s third EU Presidency period begins on 1 July 2019. The presidency of the Council rotates in an established order among the EU Member States every six months.

The presidency is responsible for taking forward the Council's work on EU legislation and policy initiatives in the Council and for ensuring the continuity of the EU agenda. In addition, the presidency represents the Council in relations with the other EU institutions, particularly with the Commission and the European Parliament.

As an official side event of Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, we are inspired to bring education, specifically the theme of the week, student voice, alive through the sessions, workshops and more. The main organizer of Helsinki Education Week is the City of Helsinki and the City’s Education Division. We, HundrED, are the official partners for the week.
