Who is Katelyn Patterson?
Katelyn Patterson is a primary school teacher, instructional coach and advocate for STEAM education in the United States. Katelyn pursued degrees in Elementary Education, Counseling and Psychology from the University of Alabama and sought certification in STEAM education as a way to increase student engagement in the classroom and make learning relevant. Katelyn was recruited to work at the first STEAM elementary school in the world, teaching and developing curriculum. In 2014, Katelyn moved to Los Angeles in and found her home at MUSE School CA. Katelyn’s philosophy of teaching encourages students to view, research and plan their learning through the lens of STEAM. She loves inspiring children to take risks, be active participants in their learning and advocate for themselves!
Katelyn enjoys getting to share her passion for STEAM and passion-based learning with educators and innovators around the world. She presented passion-based learning through the lens of STEAM at SXSW Edu in Austin, Texas in 2018. Katelyn also spoke at the 2018 International Process Communication Model Conference in Portugal. In addition to speaking with educators, Katelyn has written many articles for the Buck Institute of Education, the Process Communication Model website and MUSE School publications.
