The legacy education system has failed to scale. Currently, knowledge doubles every 12 months, and soon it will double every 12 hours. Buckminster Fuller created the “Knowledge Doubling Curve”; he noticed that until 1900 human knowledge had doubled approximately every century. By the end of World War II knowledge was doubling every 25 years. The process is not constant, as different types of knowledge have different rates of growth. For example, nanotechnology knowledge is doubling every two years and clinical knowledge every 18 months. But on average human knowledge is doubling every 13 months. According to IBM, the build out of the “internet of things” will lead to the doubling of knowledge every 12 hours. The legacy education system was not designed to handle this amount of knowledge. A solution for this is needed before we hit the 12 hour mark.

LEARNING INCENTIVISED INCOME (LII)
Learning Incentivised Income (LII) enables learners, mentors and educational institutions to receive payments based on how much they want to learn or facilitate the learning. For every module a learner completes, a Knowledge Token (KNO) is created on the NEM blockchain. The learner receives payment to their account and can then, in turn, use the Knowledge Tokens to pay mentors to undertake P2P education further. Both mentors and learners can use the Knowledge Tokens to pay educational institutions for using their facilities. This creates a completely new learning economy and an equitable ecosystem for learners, mentors and educational institutions.
CONSENSUS OF CONTENT [Voting]
Modules on the platform are voted on by consensus to mitigate against redundancy of content. Using blockchain based, permissioned, transparent voting method - mentors can trust that their vote on content is authenticated.
KNOWLEDGE TOKENS (KNO) [Mosaic]
Knowledge (KNO) tokens are issued to learners that compete modules on the platform using NEM Mosaics. Every module that is completed by a learner on the platform brings a KNO into existence to be issued to their public address. Learners can in turn use KNO to pay mentors for P2P tutoring. Educational Institutions can charge learners and mentors to utilise their learning space based on timestamps using Apostle.
PUBLICLY HASHED DEGREES (PhD) [Mosaic]
Modules are created using Mosaic by users who have attained a publicly hashed degree (PhD). The length and content of a course to attain a PhD is regulated by consensus using the NEM Voting system.
