Campus Mentors

One-room alternative school located on college campus

Campus Mentors is a vibrant single-room learning community located on a college campus. This classroom serves 15-30 youth at risk and up to 150 teacher candidates. Use it as an incubator to implement or scale up any educational innovation and you will expose hundreds of teachers to that innovation in practice before they even set foot in the classroom.

About the innovation

Framework

Campus Mentors is an incubator site for any educational innovation. Test your new curriculum, pedagogy, program, or assessment with fidelity, collect data with ease, and get ready to scale up.

The framework has four basic components:

1. located in a COLLEGE CLASSROOM during the school day;

2. Services AT RISK student population;

3. DAILY academic support from teacher candidates; and

4. ONE-ON-ONE mentoring, supported by a college course.
