CasperPractice

The #1 AI tutor for the CASPer test

CasperPractice is an AI tutor that helps students prepare for the CASPer ethics test - a pre-requisite for many medical school programs. The AI model is specifically trained to grade answers to practice questions and provide detailed feedback on how to improve. This innovation reduces the cost of tutoring by 10-100x, making access to higher education more accessible.

I hope to lower the financial barriers to higher education in the health domain, where these barriers are still significant. I also hope to prove out the value of generative AI in education, and bring this innovation to more use cases beyond the tutoring niche.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

My brother was applying to med school and telling me the high cost of tutoring (up to $5,000) for the CASPer test, which is as important as the MCAT for many med schools. I felt this was an interesting use case for generative AI and built a prototype. The response was incredible, students found the product incredibly useful and affordable, which prompted me to pursue this project full-time.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

It is a question bank of AI generated questions that resemble those on the CASPer test. Students can answer the questions by text or video (just like the CASPer) and they immediately get a grade and detailed personalized feedback on how to improve their response. The AI model is trained on publicly available information on how to answer ethical situational judgment questions like those on the CASPer test.

We are currently building deeper analytics functionality, so students can understand how they are performing relative to other students and get specific tailored advice on trends noticed across all their answers, not just on individual answers. This functionality is intended to offer superior insights and advice vs traditional tutoring.

How has it been spreading?

There has been significant word of mouth within the pre-health student community (e.g. pre-med, pre-dentistry, etc.). We have done no marketing so far and have several hundred customers.
