Educate Girls is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on mobilizing communities for girls’ education in India’s rural and educationally underprivileged areas. Working in partnership with the Government, Educate Girls currently operates successfully in over 20,000 villages in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
By engaging with a huge base of community volunteers, Educate Girls helps to identify, enroll, and retain out-of-school girls and to improve foundational skills in literacy and numeracy for all children (both girls and boys). To date, Educate Girls has helped to enroll over 1.4 million+ girls into public schools, ensuring 93% retention of the girls enrolled and have supported 1.95 million+ children with remedial learning.
Ambition for Change
The world today has many problems, all of them complex and inter-related, but there’s something that can help solve it – educating girls. In India, there are around 4.1 million girls who are not in school. Girls are out of school due to a myriad of reasons, most important being – their gender. Health, nutrition, employability, poverty alleviation – so many things are positively impacted when girls are educated!
By leveraging the Government's existing investment in schools and by engaging with a huge base of community volunteers, Educate Girls helps to identify, enrol and retain out-of-school girls and to improve foundational skills in literacy and numeracy for all children (both girls and boys). This helps deliver measurable results to a large number of children and avoids parallel delivery of services.

Our goal is to improve access and quality education for over 15 million children cumulatively by 2025.
Impact
Since its inception, Educate Girls grew from a 500-village pilot in one district in Rajasthan to 21,000+ villages in 32+ districts across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in India, and have recently launched their operations in Bihar, India.
To date, Educate Girls have mobilised 1.4 million+ girls for enrolment with 93% of retention and over 1.9 million+ children have demonstrated improved learning outcomes. Educate Girls has been instrumental in pioneering the world’s first Development Impact Bond in education, which on its completion in 2018, exceeded its enrolment and learning targets.
Path to Scale
Mobilizing public, private, and community resources to provide quality education for all under-served and marginalized girls. Using innovative analytic techniques to build a predictive model (e.g. machine learning) to identify villages for future program sites with the highest concentrations of out-of-school girls.
