In October 2024, our team began this project with a simple mission, to prove that meaningful change is possible when problems are addressed at their root, not just on the surface. We noticed that many so called lake cleaning efforts focus only on removing visible plastic waste and then declare the water "clean" However, at the microscopic and chemical level, aquatic life continues to suffer, fish choke, oxygen drops, and entire ecosystems collapse due to eutrophication.
This invisible damage is often ignored. We asked ourselves, why should water look clean but still be deadly? That question became the foundation of Eutrobot. We created this innovation to go beyond cosmetic cleanup and actively restore water health using intelligent, eco friendly bioremediation. Eutrobot represents our belief that no problem is impossible to solve when technology is used responsibly and with nature, not against it.
In practice, Eutrobot is not just a prototype, it is a field deployable autonomous system. We have already deployed and tested Eutrobot in selected polluted lakes in Vadodara to validate its real world functionality. During operation, the robot navigates the water surface, continuously monitors key water quality parameters, and identifies signs of eutrophication and ecosystem stress. Based on real time data, it autonomously initiates bioremediation actions to improve water conditions rather than merely collecting waste.
Beyond individual deployments, we have set a long term mission to restore polluted lakes and rivers across India. This effort began in Vadodara under our initiative named Operation Jal Rakshak, which serves as a scalable model for future deployments. Through this approach, Eutrobot transitions from an innovation into a practical environmental restoration system.
Eutrobot has been spreading through a combination of real-world impact and strong recognition from academic, industry, and international platforms. We have presented the innovation at multiple national competitions, where it has received awards as well as funding support from leading IIT institutions. Its practical and scalable approach to water restoration has also earned special recognition from The Ocean Cleanup initiative.
Beyond the academic ecosystem, Eutrobot has been acknowledged by IndiGo Airlines, India's largest airline, highlighting its relevance beyond research and into industry, supported sustainability efforts. Additionally, the project has gained international visibility, having been selected for two international awards so far. These recognitions have helped the innovation reach wider audiences and accelerate its adoption and collaboration potential.
Since October 2024, we have continuously evolved Eutrobot through multiple design iterations, each improving performance, autonomy, and real-world readiness. We developed Eutrobot 1.0 as a proof of concept, followed by Eutrobot 2.0 and 3.0, which incorporated enhanced sensing, smarter decision making, and greater operational stability based on field feedback.
Our most advanced prototype, Eutrobot X, represents a major leap in scalability and robustness. Building on this progress, we are currently developing Eutrobot Industrial, a large scale version designed for continuous deployment in lakes and rivers. This direction was encouraged by venture capitalists and technology leaders from multinational companies, including Google, who recognized the system's potential for industrial and municipal adoption.
We designed Eutrobot to be accessible, not exclusive. To enable wider participation, we are developing an Eutrobot Educational Kit that allows students and school teams to build a smaller, guided version of the robot themselves. These kits are designed to be assembled, programmed, and deployed by students in their own communities.
Participants will be able to work with their schools to deploy the educational models in nearby polluted lakes or water bodies, contributing directly to local environmental restoration while learning robotics, AI, and sustainability. We are currently in the process of developing and testing this educational kit, with the goal of empowering young innovators to take real action rather than just learn theory.
