Learners in Bangladesh are eager to learn 4IR skills, but struggle to find reliable resources beyond their existing curriculum. This demotivates creating a need for a dynamic platform that offers sustainable knowledge and training, aiming to improve livelihoods and productivity. While infrastructure has been a barrier, MuktoPaath strives to provide quality educational services to meet this demand.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

The motivation to create such a platform was to increase access to quality education, promote social inclusion, and enable people living with various disabilities a chance to live independently with the scope to increase their standard of living. The e-learning platform brought the training process online, saving the TCV (Time, Cost, and Visit) and empowering citizens within a short time.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

In MuktoPaath, starters interested in learning new skills need to register themselves and can participate in any course. The courses range from technical, agricultural, vocational to conventional topics which are mostly available free-of-charge and cater to people of different socioeconomic backgrounds. After completion of the course, learners will participate in an online quiz and upon successfully passing the assessment they will be awarded with certifications accredited by the relevant governing institutions, NGOs, and ministries etc. This will enable them to jump start their career and minimise their costs for receiving any external training.

How has it been spreading?

It has shaped public policy as policymakers have a new perspective regarding the field of education by introducing new concepts in mainstream like blended education. This allowed citizens across the country to feel more valued and engaged to participate while using such an interactive and affordable platform. MuktoPaath had achieved recognition for their work in the ICT sector: in 2018 by winning the ‘World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) Prize’, The Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) with the ‘Sohel Samad Memorial Award’ for their creative innovation in the field of media, Bangladesh Innovation Award in the Public Service Innovation- Citizen co-creation in 2021 and 2022. In 2022, it was recognised on GAAD for its contribution in making the site easy to use for people with disabilities.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

This platform is currently being replicated based on the demand from stakeholders such as National University, Bangladesh and the primary and secondary education directorates. It can be further replicated if the opportunity arises at international partnership levels. Impact & scalability

HundrED Academy Reviews

There is a strong need to give the population ways to rise above their economic possibilities and this innovation seems to help them gain skills to be able to become certified in areas they would otherwise not have access to.

Within Bangladesh, the MuktoPaath program is easily scalable, especially as more institutions become involved to support and spread the word. MuktoPaath is also open to working with other communities to replicate the project in new contexts.
