About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Speaking is crucial for societal participation. However, OKAN students have limited practice opportunities and must learn Dutch in two years before moving to regular education. We are developing POL, a voicebot for 11- to 14-year-olds that starts conversations based on photos and adapts to their language level, providing safe and motivating practice both independently and in NT2 lessons.

How has it been spreading?

The tool was developed in collaboration with OKAN teachers, along with d-teach online training, Linguineo, and CTO. Through communities, teacher events, social media, and more, a large number of OKAN teachers have already been reached.
