The Churchie Research Centre seeks to enhance student learning through the translation of applied research

The Churchie Research Centre will pursue partnerships with leading tertiary institutions to enhance the knowledge, practice and capabilities of Churchie’s teachers. The focus on applied educational research will examine the translation of current and emergent theory into practice by evaluating the subsequent impact. Such a focus recognises the mediating role of the collective impact of teachers.

About the innovation

Translation of Emergent Best Practice through Applied Research

The Churchie Research Centre, located in The Centenary Library, seeks to enhance student learning by supporting the continual professional learning and development for our teachers. The centre will focus on the translation of current theory to evidence-based practice through applied and sustained professional learning.

The Churchie Research Centre will pursue partnerships that enhance the knowledge, practice and capabilities of Churchie’s teachers. Its central focus will be around applied educational research by translating current and emergent theory into practice while evaluating the subsequent impact on both teachers and students. This acknowledges the fundamental role that teachers play in affecting improved educational outcomes for all our students.

The research centre will drive change through a range of support services for the Churchie and broader community through centralising, coordinating and enhancing the current research initiatives with;

The Centre has already supported leading staff in the development, trial and refinement of a reading strategies intervention, investing the affordances of laptop and Tablet PC devices on teaching and learning and hosted professional learning events for Australasian architects and teachers (Association for Learning Environments Australasia Regional Day Out) and librarians (Queensland Future Libraries conference).
