The Heart of Friendship

When children's drawings become songs through the power of AI to promote inclusion and empathy.

The Heart of Friendship" addresses the need for emotional expression in early education. We use AI to transform students' drawings into original songs, giving a unique "voice" to their feelings. This innovative approach boosts self-confidence and fosters inclusion, ensuring every child's message of friendship is celebrated.

Through this innovation, we hope to see a shift towards a more inclusive and technologically empowered educational model. We want to prove that Artificial Intelligence can be used as a pedagogical tool to enhance—not replace—human creativity and emotional expression. Our vision is an education system where technology highlights the uniqueness of every child, boosts their self-confidence, and transforms the classroom into a bright, inclusive team where 'diversity is a celebration'. Ultimately, we hope to inspire more schools to combine art, technology, and social-emotional learning to cultivate empathy and strengthen the bonds of friendship in the digital age.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

The innovation was created to cultivate empathy and promote friendship, cooperation, and the acceptance of diversity among students. Our goal was to familiarize students with Artificial Intelligence as a tool to enhance imagination and express thoughts and feelings through visual art and music. By participating in the 'Positive Energy and Friendship Week', we aimed to transform the classroom into a bright, inclusive team where every child's uniqueness is highlighted.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

In practice, students express their feelings through drawings which are then digitally 'read' and transformed into original lyrics and melodies using innovative AI tools. All the material—drawings, lyrics, and audio files—is integrated into the BookCreator platform to create a multimedia digital book. The project includes experiential discussions about peace and positive energy, followed by the presentation of the interactive e-book to the school community and parents.

How has it been spreading?

The project has already gained significant local and national recognition. It was originally developed as part of the 'Positive Energy and Friendship Week' organized by the Directorate of Primary Education of Eastern Thessaloniki and will be featured in their upcoming dedicated repository for good practices. Furthermore, the project is currently a candidate in the National Sustainable Development Awards (Bravo Schools 2026). It is also shared through our school's official blog, where students act as ambassadors, sharing the digital BookCreator link with their families and the community. How have you modified or added to your innovation?

We integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to give 'voice' to the children's traditional drawings, transforming static art into a multimedia experience with original lyrics and music. By using the BookCreator platform, we evolved a classroom activity into a professional-grade interactive e-book that can be easily shared and accessed digitally by the entire community.
We enhanced the project by aligning it with Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4, 10, 16) and applying for the National Sustainable Development Awards (Bravo Schools 2026). We also integrated AI tools to transform static art into a multimedia experience.
Note on Language: The project was originally developed in Greek to ensure authentic expression for the students. For this international presentation, the text and interface have been translated into English, while the original songs created by the children remain in Greek to preserve their unique artistic voice and the AI-generated melodies.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

To implement this innovation, follow these steps:
1. Experiential Discussion: Begin with an open classroom dialogue about friendship, empathy, and peace.
2. Artistic Creation: Have students create drawings expressing their feelings using simple materials like markers or colored pencils.
3. AI Integration: Scan the drawings and use AI tools to generate original lyrics and music based on the visual messages and themes of each artwork.
4. Digital Synthesis: Use a platform like BookCreator to combine the drawings, lyrics, and audio files into an interactive multimedia e-book.
5. Sharing: Present the final digital book to the class and the school community to celebrate the students' unique voices.

Implementation steps

Experiential Discussion
Begin with an open classroom dialogue about the importance of friendship, empathy, and peace in the world.
Artistic Creation
Encourage students to express their feelings freely on paper using markers and colored pencils, capturing their own unique messages.
AI Integration
Scan the students' drawings and feed them into AI tools to generate original lyrics and music based on the visual stimuli and messages of each artwork.
Digital Synthesis
Integrate all the materials—drawings, lyrics, and audio music files—into the BookCreator platform to create a multimedia digital book.
Presentation & Celebration
Present the interactive e-book in the classroom and share it with the school community to highlight each child's uniqueness.
