The Giroteca Mobile Library is an innovative concept for a technological and inclusive mobile library that aims to provide students with access to knowledge and facilitate the development of teaching practices for faculty, both inside and outside the classroom.

Globaltec Tecnologias Educacionais Ltda., a Brazilian company specializing in the development of Sustainable Educational Technologies, presents this educational equipment, GIROTECA, for continuing education. Its selected methodological strategies aim to provide the participating pedagogical team with technical training in reading mediation, library management, computer literacy, school research (which can be customized for traffic education), and diversity. It is also a mobile, autonomous library that does not require a building for its operation, as it utilizes existing physical spaces in schools (corridors, classrooms, courtyards, etc.). Our main purpose in creating this innovation is precisely to contribute on a large scale to raising educational standards, developing critical and autonomous readers, and fostering conscious citizens better equipped to face life's challenges. This is the kind of education we seek through the application of innovation.

Why did you create this innovation?

We work towards creating innovation because we firmly believe that the use of this equipment will contribute to raising educational standards, developing critical and autonomous readers, and fostering conscious citizens. Understanding the pedagogical role of the GIROTECA, we also offer ongoing training, with selected methodological strategies that seek to provide the participating pedagogical team with technical skills in reading mediation, library management, computer literacy, school research (which can be customized for traffic education), and diversity.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Upon delivery and implementation of each Mobile Library unit, using printed and digital materials, the focus shifts between pedagogical and social dimensions and scientific and technological dimensions. The equipment is guaranteed for maintenance for a period of two years from implementation. After this period, Globaltec may, according to the institution's interest, enter into a contract for the maintenance of the Mobile Library, considering the handling of the bibliographic collection and hardware items of the technological module.

How has it been spreading?

Due to its very good reception, we can affirm that here in Brazil it is the most sought-after library model by the population, leading governments at all three administrative levels—Federal, State, and Municipal—to increasingly work on the process of acquiring Mobile Libraries – GIROTECA. This also applies to private companies. Therefore, we can say that, in a general context, the Mobile Library – GIROTECA – is spreading throughout the Brazilian territory.

How have you modified or added to your innovation?

Again, we respond that in a general context, we only apply modifications when faced with special situations, such as when installing the Library in a location with less space than necessary. In such cases, our team may make minor adjustments to properly accommodate all the equipment, but nothing that would compromise the originality of the project.
