THINK Global School has been recognised as one of the leading innovations in the HundrED 2019 and HundrED 2020 Global Collections. We are continuously impressed with their ability to adapt, grow and deliver relevant and engaging life long learning opportunities to their students. Read how they have increased their impact since the start of the school.

What does it mean for THINK Global School to be recognised as a leading education innovator in the HundrED 2019 & HundrED 2020 Global Collection?

It means a lot to us to be included in the HundrED Global Collections, as HundrED has quickly positioned itself as the leader in showcasing the innovations that are setting the bar in the world of education. The Global Collection in our eyes is the new standard for quality in education, and the fact that only 100 innovations make the cut out of countless submissions ensures the ones that do are worth visiting.

HundrED clearly noticed that there was an existing demand for showcasing innovation (I’ve yet to come across anything remotely close in scale) and acted on it in a manner befitting of the innovations. From the HundrED website to research projects like  [Every Child to Flourish,] it’s evident that everyone in HundrED cares as deeply about progressing education as much as those involved with the innovations themselves. I’ve spent quite a bit of time browsing through innovations over the last three years, and I’m always impressed by what creators around the world are creating within their communities. HundrED provides a much-needed and cohesive way for organizations and individuals to have their projects recognized, and we’re incredibly proud to be featured alongside innovations of such a high caliber.

How has the HundrED Summit and global recognition helped progress the impact of THINK Global School?

I think it has in a variety of ways. First, the connections we’ve made at the summit itself have been invaluable. Jamie especially has been able to connect with a wide variety of educators and innovators, discuss investment, and champion the school. The HundrED Summit is the perfect place to network as everyone possesses the same progressive mindset and truly cares about education. Second, the recognition definitely adds credibility to the school. I found out from one of our admissions associates this week that a student applied after his mother learned of us through the HundrED profile — that’s just one example of an inquiry that resulted from some connection to HundrED. People respect the authority that HundrED has earned, and being identified as one of their top 100 innovations really does reflect positively on the school, and we make sure to highlight it in all of our marketing materials.

So, what is next for THINK Global School?

Short term, we’re still in the early years of our switch to the Changemaker Curriculum, so continuing to refine our in-country modules, developing our social-emotional learning methods, and balancing student agency and autonomy with skill mastery are goals for the near future. I think it’s fair to say we want to graduate the most emotionally balanced and academically engaged students in the world, students who are prepared to take the next step, whatever that may be. Long term, we truly feel we’ve developed something special in the Changemaker Curriculum, and that its place- and project-based learning methods can be utilized in any school, regardless of geography. With that in mind, we are working on developing a donor strategy that provides for fellows being trained onsite and teachers embedded in schools to teach entire staffs the methods of the curriculum.

What would you say to innovators who are looking to connect with HundrED? Why should they be part of the global community for change?

Honestly, just go for it. The HundrED is a truly welcoming community and if you have created something worth sharing, they are the perfect springboard to make it a critical success. I’m just constantly impressed by the amount of detail and care that goes into each of their decisions.

If you are willing to put in the effort, the sky’s the limit.
