Astronomy Made Easy aims to make astronomy education as accessible and engaging as other sciences. We want to dispel the idea that astronomy is intimidating because of complicated math and encourage a love of the universe among all. We aim to encourage young women to explore careers in aerospace, astrophysics, and related fields, thereby promoting gender equality and accessibility in STEM fields.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

I started Astronomy Made Easy to help people pursue their dreams of a career in space. Growing up, I was discouraged from pursuing anything related to physics since I was weak in math. But I saw this as a barrier because we are driven by passion, not by our weaknesses. With my innovation, I only have one goal in mind: to foster love for our universe in our youth instead of the fear of failing.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Our innovation, Astronomy Made Easy, manifests through a multifaceted approach. We offer various internships and volunteering opportunities, providing hands-on experience in space research, article writing, curriculum development, and executive roles. Through engaging posts on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, we share interactive space content, monthly astronomical events, and myth-busting facts to foster curiosity about the cosmos. Moreover, our comprehensive curriculum, available on our website, comprises easy-to-understand notes, worksheets, and research articles reviewed by physics majors. We also work with other student organizations to organize virtual events, competitions, and webinars about astronomy and physics. These events promote other interdisciplinary interests to a worldwide audience. Our remote, inclusive environment encourages collaboration among team members from diverse cultural backgrounds, uniting them under a shared passion for space.

How has it been spreading?

Astronomy Made Easy has gained significant traction through social media platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, RoundPier, and Discord. We have leveraged these channels to reach a global audience, including international students seeking astronomy-related experiences and parents seeking educational resources for their children. Our outreach efforts have also been aided by word-of-mouth and partnerships with schools, such as starting an astronomy club. We aim to reach diverse communities and inspire a new generation to pursue careers in space by focusing on grassroots involvement and strategic alliances aimed at young learners. Through consistent, astronomy-related content and opportunities for involvement, we are continuing to expand our reach and impact in the field of astronomy education.

If I want to try it, what should I do?
