Words alive, in every picture and vibe!

We will create a doodle-style canvas book for students to learn English vocabulary through illustrations. Students select a central theme, brainstorm related words, and create illustrations using tools such as Viima.com. This project improves English language skills, artistic talents, teamwork, and creativity. The book will be reviewed by their teacher and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Students can improve their learning and memory retention by creating a visual vocabulary book through doodling. This technique involves colouring, tracing, and filling in missing parts of doodles to engage students with vocabulary words and help them better understand their meanings. The impact of doodling and visualisation is simple yet significant.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Ask me for a sample page. Use your pen or colours and enjoy doodling over and colouring. If you are too lazy, use it as a bookmark. Presented in front of you, you may memorise some words from it.

Implementation steps

1. Get Materials
Grab a big drawing book and colorful pens or pencils.
2. Plan Pages
Divide the book into sections for different word groups.
3. Choose Words
Pick words students need to learn.
4. Doodle
Draw doodles to show the meaning of each word.
5. Write Words
Write the words vividly
6. Review
Look at the booklet together regularly to rearrange the words in groups and make the final draft.
7. Publish
Students distribute the booklet before each unit (pocket size & light weight) to their classmates in order to use it.
