Since proudly winning WestAfricaCom’s Game-Changing Innovation Award, CyberSmart Africa continues to innovate ways to deliver up-to-date quality content directly supporting classroom learning both online and to the vast majority of schools that have no electricity in sub-Saharan Africa.
Our massively scalable learning solutions are based on deep insights into local needs. Insights that start with our over decade-long grassroots collaboration with Senegalese teachers. Insights that come from our longstanding and deep relationships with local associations and local government. And insights that build on our global industry expertise.
Social network growth is core to our strategy. Teachers are already heavy users of social networks. SmartSenegal.com uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology to provide a social network designed to specifically address their professional needs — including the ability to access and share learning content and collaborate within an empathetic and inspirational environment.
Our CyberSmart Digital Learning Platform brings social networking together with affordable solar-powered classroom equipment that is specifically designed to meet the needs of the developing world. Previously unavailable instructional materials — maps, photos, videos and up-to-date quality content — directly supports classroom learning.
Why we do it?
The data speaks for itself. Children in sub-Saharan Africa are not learning. But irregular attendance, repetition, and inadequate teacher training are not the real problems. Rather, they are merely symptoms of much larger systemic weaknesses. The international development community, including The World Bank and USAID, feed into the dysfunction — and are partially to blame for it — by funding and then funding again inefficient and ineffective bureaucracies and contractors.
