We created Flori after years of working with schools and seeing a persistent gap in how social-emotional learning (SEL) is delivered. Most programs rely on one-off trainings for teachers, with limited follow-up, combined with little knowledge nor connection to what happens at home. As a result, impact is often short-lived.
At the same time, we saw that teachers need ongoing, practical support in the classroom to translate theory into practice through ready-to-use activities, while parents need guidance and practical strategies to continue building strong relationships with their children—especially when facing resistance, disconnection, or everyday conflicts.
Flori was designed to address this gap by supporting both teachers and caregivers in a continuous, practical way. Through WhatsApp, Flori provides an accessible, low-friction solution that delivers structured curriculum, interactive activities, and real-time guidance directly into their daily lives—without requiring new platforms or additional effort.
A key component is Flori Amiga, our AI assistant, which provides 24/7 personalised support to help adults navigate real-life situations as they arise, from classroom challenges to family tensions. This shifts SEL from isolated moments of training to an ongoing, embedded process.
By aligning what happens at school and at home, Flori develops social-emotional skills, strengthens relationships around students, and improves the wellbeing of the whole school community.
In practice, Flori operates through WhatsApp, reaching teachers and caregivers directly on their phones with no need for new platforms or logins. Students do not interact with phones themselves; instead, all activities are facilitated by adults in real-life settings.
The experience is organised into biweekly learning cycles, combining four types of content designed to fit into everyday routines. Teachers receive 30-minute, ready-to-use classroom activities to implement with their students, while caregivers receive 15-minute family challenges that promote connection and help break down everyday relational barriers.
Alongside these activities, adults receive either a short minicourse (30 minutes) with practical strategies, tools, and tips, or a 5-minute wellbeing routine to support their own emotional health. This ensures that both skill-building and adult wellbeing are consistently addressed.
A key component is Flori Amiga, a 24/7 AI assistant that provides on-demand, personalised guidance for real-life situations—whether in the classroom or at home.
Engagement is supported through behavioural science-informed reminders and a gamification system, where participants earn points for completing activities, helping sustain participation over time.
By aligning what happens at school and at home, Flori embeds social-emotional learning into daily interactions and strengthens relationships across the educational community.
Flori has grown both within schools and across systems through a combination of organic adoption and institutional partnerships.
Within participating schools, we have gradually expanded reach over time—initially starting with grades 5 to 8, then extending to grades 4 to 9, whilst we are now developing a curriculum for all grade levels. When launching in a new school, all teachers and caregivers are invited to participate. Caregiver uptake has been driven largely by word of mouth, the sharing of positive experiences, and coordinated campaigns with schools, especially during key engagement moments such as parent meetings and school events.
At an institutional level, Flori has scaled through a hybrid model. We have partnered with public schools through grants and collaborations with Secretarías de Educación and Foundations, integrating Flori into large-scale public education initiatives. At the same time, we work with private schools through a B2B model, where in some cases parent associations fund the caregiver component, recognising the need for practical tools to support their children’s wellbeing and social-emotional development.
Looking ahead, we aim to expand Flori through larger public-sector partnerships, which offer the greatest potential for sustainable and scalable impact, while continuing to grow adoption in schools that value integrated approaches to wellbeing and SEL.
Yes. Flori has evolved significantly based on implementation learnings and continuous user feedback. At the end of each activity, teachers and caregivers are invited to share their experience, insights, and suggestions, which has directly informed ongoing improvements.
First, we reduced the frequency of activities from weekly to biweekly to better align with school schedules and account for real-world interruptions. This has improved completion rates and reduced overload for teachers and caregivers.
We have also simplified the design and guidance of activities, making them easier to understand and deliver in practice, with clearer instructions and more structured facilitation support.
To adapt to different contexts, we introduced flexible activity options—some designed for low-resource, everyday environments and others that incorporate technology when available.
We strengthened engagement through enhanced gamification, including physical “passports” where students unlock secret words after completing activities, helping sustain motivation and participation.
Finally, we increased alignment and connection between teachers and caregivers, reinforcing participation and ensuring that learning is supported consistently across school and home environments.
Flori is available to any school interested in participating. Schools can contact us directly to explore implementation and onboarding.
At the same time, we are working towards expanding access beyond schools. In the coming months, we aim to launch a direct-to-caregiver (B2C) model, allowing families to register and benefit from Flori independently, without needing to be affiliated with a school.
