About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Education in emergency contexts gets disrupted often putting on hold learning. TutaLearn is a swahili-English word meaning let's learn which motivated by a community volunteer in Sudan who was gathering children under a tree to continue teaching them in order to reduce the rates of early marriages and cases of child labour in her community. This inspired EiC to support her work by providing materials but to sustainable to support her, we connected her for a distant mentorship and professional training that actually transformed not her teaching which attracted more teacher volunteers whom she trained with skills she gained thus the initiation of TutaLearn innovation.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

An online platform equipped with teacher training materials and learner materials which are uploaded in local curriculum with an option of local languages to promote foundational literacy and numeracy skills for learners. The platform also integrates gamification to allow learners get motivated to learn and play in times of crisis as a way of promoting their wellbeing.

How has it been spreading?

It is still in development phase so the testing program has been only in 2 countries as we continue to seek resources to finally bring to fulfillment.
