We are in the midst of a learning crisis that is deeply impacting marginalized learners in low-resource environments. Further, 33% percent of the world does not have access to Internet connectivity to support their learning journey. There are overall fewer opportunities for students to participate in project-based learning and build foundational skills.
Through the Kolibri Learning Platform, the teacher will have access to facilitation guides and data dashboard tools to support personalized and differentiated instruction in real-time for learners, without the need for the Internet. At the beginning of class, the teacher will direct learners to the Kolibri Learning Platform to start with a short video and an exercise on a particular math concept. After watching the video and mastering the exercise at their own pace, learners will participate in a group project to solve a real-world problem, facilitated by the teacher. The session then ends with an interactive closing reflection circle that builds empathy amongst the members of the class. Learners can also use Kolibri on their own, complete lessons/quizzes tailored to their individual levels, and monitor their own progress. Teachers utilize real-time activity data to adapt their next classes, tailored to each learner's needs.
Kolibri is designed to support organic adoption by organizations on their own, without requiring LE’s direct involvement. Through this approach, Kolibri has reached at least 3 million learners across known installations in 220+ countries and territories. Kolibri’s existing model – combining the technology, how it is distributed and adopted, and the way it’s supported – is a key lever to enable this idea to reach millions more users. This organic adoption is also facilitated by the Kolibri Edtech Toolkit (https://le.fyi/toolkit), which contains educator support and training materials, hardware guides, and documentation to support use of Kolibri in formal and nonformal learning environments, at home on one’s own, and in emergency and crisis contexts.
