Through the Green Living Challenge game, we hope to transform the way environmental education is delivered—making it more interactive, student-centered, and impactful. We envision a shift from passive learning to active engagement, where students are not only informed about sustainability but are also empowered to practice it in real-life situations. Our innovation aims to instill lifelong environ

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

We created the Green Living Challenge in response to the urgent global need for greater environmental awareness and practical knowledge of sustainable living. Despite increasing exposure to climate issues, many students and young people still lack clear, engaging ways to understand and adopt eco-friendly practices. Traditional teaching methods often fail to motivate real behavioral change. Our goal was to make sustainability education interactive, fun, and impactful by using game-based learning to spark curiosity and instill eco-conscious habits in the next generati

What does your innovation look like in practice?

n practice, the Green Living Challenge is a digital game with four levels: Green Building, Smart Transport, Public Facility Management, and a Quiz Challenge. Players interact with real-life sustainability scenarios, such as installing solar panels, choosing eco-friendly transport, and managing energy in public spaces. They receive instant feedback and are rewarded for making environmentally responsible choices. The final quiz reinforces learning, helping to retain knowledge. The game is designed for classroom use, workshops, or individual exploration, making it adaptable across educational settings.

How has it been spreading?

The innovation has begun spreading through pilot testing in schools, teacher training workshops, and presentations at educational innovation fairs. Educators have shown strong interest in using the game as part of their environmental education modules. The game has also gained traction through social media promotion and collaboration with environmental clubs and NGOs. Plans are in place to collaborate with more schools and expand language options to reach a broader audience regionally and internationally.

How have you modified or added to your innovation?

We have added a built-in quiz feature to reinforce learning outcomes and included scenario-based decision points to reflect real-life environmental challenges. Based on user feedback, we enhanced visual graphics, made the interface more user-friendly, and introduced scoring and rewards to improve engagement. We are currently developing a teacher dashboard and downloadable learning resources to support educators in integrating the game into their lessons more effectively.
