More and more preschools in developing countries are shifting from academic teaching to playful, holistic learning. It starts with preschool leaders, teachers, and parents becoming aware of and desiring a new way of teaching and learning. The goal is to make it possible for every child to grow and develop based on their skills and interests and at their own pace. Parent engagement is crucial.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Kindiedays Learning System was created to give preschools, especially in developing countries, the possibility to provide modern early childhood education affordably. The starting point has been the best practices and curriculum from Finland, adapted to the local curriculum and cultural needs. India, with the new education policy NEP2020, which is well aligned with Finland, has been the first focus market.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

The system is built on three main pillars that combine pedagogical content with digital management tools:

1. Finnish-Style Curriculum & Lesson Plans:
Theme-based Lesson Plans: Over 300 experiential, activity-based lesson plans for 10 themes, covering 160 days of teaching.
Holistic Framework: Aligned with Finnish National Curriculum objectives and adaptable to other frameworks like India’s NEP/NCF.
Three Learner Levels: Activities tailored for children aged 3–4, 4–5, and 5–6 years.

2. Digital Tools & Mobile Apps:
Educator App: Allows teachers to document learning moments with photos and videos, link activities to curriculum goals, and manage daily routines like attendance and nap times.
Family App: Connects parents to their child's learning journey through real-time updates, digital portfolios, and secure messaging.
Manager Web App: Provides data-driven insights, curriculum tracking, and center-wide reporting for quality assurance.

3. Professional Development & Support:
Kindiedays Academy: Offers interactive online workshops for teachers and managers on topics like playful learning, STEM, and classroom management.

How has it been spreading?

Kindiedays Learning System was finalized during the first half of 2024, together with around 10 preschools, mainly in India. It is based on our Digi Tools from 2020 and Lesson Plans from 2023. Kindiedays Digi Tools are available in English, Spanish, Finnish, Swedish, Estonian, Italian, Greek, and Thai. Lesson plans and Workshops are available in English. Hence, the focus for Kindiedays Learning Systemis initially on countries with English as the leading language in preschools and on international schools.

Our plan is to use local partners to spread the solution. We have partners in India, Thailand, Malaysia, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Brazil, and Peru.
