Little Lion English

Helping young learners build confidence in English through stories, games and play.

Many young learners struggle to stay motivated by repetitive English practice. Little Lion English combines illustrated stories, read-along audio, interactive browser games, printable activities and classroom tools to make British English learning more engaging, accessible and enjoyable for children aged 5–7.

We hope to see English learning become more engaging, accessible and enjoyable for young children, while also making it easier for teachers and parents to support them. Little Lion English is designed around the idea that children learn best when they are interested, involved and having fun. Instead of relying only on traditional worksheets or memorisation, we combine stories, games, printable activities, audio and interactive classroom tools so that children can learn through play, repetition, exploration and meaningful practice. We want teachers to have access to high-quality resources that are ready to use, easy to understand and flexible enough for different classrooms. By providing connected resources in one place, we hope to reduce preparation time and help teachers create engaging lessons without needing to design everything themselves. We also want learning to continue beyond the classroom. Parents should be able to access simple, affordable and free activities that help their children practise English at home in an enjoyable and low-pressure way. In the longer term, we hope to show that digital learning, printable resources and classroom teaching can work together as part of one connected learning experience. Our goal is to help more children build confidence, curiosity and a genuine enjoyment of learning English from an early age.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Little Lion English was created from first-hand experience of teaching young learners and seeing how difficult it can be to keep children engaged when English learning relies too heavily on repetitive worksheets, isolated vocabulary practice or passive activities.

Young children often learn best when language is connected to stories, characters, games, movement and play. At the same time, teachers and parents need resources that are practical, easy to access and simple to use without expensive subscriptions or complicated technology.

Little Lion English was created to bring these needs together. The aim is to provide young learners with a more positive first experience of English through a combination of structured British English learning, illustrated stories, read-along audio, interactive games, printable activities and classroom tools.

Accessibility is also central to the project. A growing collection of games, classroom tools and learning resources is provided free of charge so that teachers and families can use them regardless of budget.

Ultimately, Little Lion English was created to help children associate learning English with curiosity, confidence and enjoyment, while giving adults practical resources that can be used immediately at home or in the classroom.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Little Lion English provides a connected collection of digital and printable British English resources designed primarily for children aged 5–7.

A child might begin with an illustrated story featuring Leo the lion, listen to read-along audio, practise key vocabulary through flashcards or a worksheet, and then reinforce the same language through an interactive browser game. This gives learners several different ways to encounter and practise the same vocabulary and concepts.

Teachers can also use free browser-based classroom tools such as a team scoreboard, countdown timer, spin-the-wheel activity and coin flip to add interaction and play to everyday lessons. These tools require no specialist software and can be opened directly from the website.

Seasonal and themed resources provide additional opportunities for learning through play, while free downloadable materials allow activities to continue away from the screen.

The platform can therefore be used flexibly in classrooms, private lessons or at home. Teachers and parents can select individual resources or combine stories, games, audio and printable activities into a broader learning experience.

Little Lion English is designed around one consistent principle: structured language learning should feel enjoyable and approachable for young children.

How has it been spreading?

Little Lion English has been spreading primarily through free online access, educational marketplaces, social media and organic discovery.

The platform is available internationally through littlelionenglish.com, where families and teachers can access free games, classroom tools and learning resources directly in their browser. Resources are also distributed through TES, helping Little Lion English reach teachers beyond its original audience in Thailand.

Since September 2026, Google Analytics has recorded visitors from around 60 countries and territories. The strongest usage has come from Thailand and the United States, with additional activity from countries including Sweden, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Singapore, China, Vietnam and Japan.

Discovery is also growing through search engines, social media, educational directory listings and referrals from external websites. Little Lion English maintains an active presence across several social platforms and regularly shares free resources, classroom ideas and new learning activities.

The project is still at an early stage, but its digital-first model allows resources to be shared and adopted internationally without requiring physical distribution or specialist software.

How have you modified or added to your innovation?

Little Lion English has developed rapidly in response to classroom experience, user needs and the goal of making the platform useful beyond individual learning packs.

The project began with illustrated story-based English learning resources combining books, audio and printable activities. It has since expanded to include interactive browser games, themed learning bundles and a growing collection of free classroom tools.

These additions include a team scoreboard, visual countdown timer, spin-the-wheel activity, dice roll and coin flip, designed to help teachers introduce interaction and play into everyday lessons without needing additional software.

Seasonal resources have also been introduced, including themed games, worksheets and colouring activities, giving teachers and families additional ways to practise English throughout the year.

The website structure has also evolved to make free resources, games and classroom tools easier to discover and use.

This continuous development reflects the core approach of Little Lion English: observe how young learners and teachers use the resources, identify practical needs, and expand the platform with simple, engaging tools that support enjoyable English learning.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

Little Lion English can be accessed online at littlelionenglish.com. Teachers, parents and young learners can visit the website and explore a growing collection of British English learning resources, interactive games and classroom tools.

Many of our resources are completely free to use. Teachers and parents can begin with our free learning packs, worksheets, colouring activities, educational games and classroom tools without needing specialist software. Resources can be downloaded and printed, while our interactive games and classroom tools can be used directly in a web browser on a computer, tablet or interactive whiteboard.

Our materials are designed primarily for young English learners, particularly children aged around 5–7. They can be used in schools, language centres, private lessons, online lessons or at home.

Teachers can use the printable resources as part of a lesson, for revision, homework or additional practice. Our interactive games can be played individually, in pairs or as a whole-class activity. Classroom tools such as our scoreboard, countdown timer, coin flip and spin-the-wheel activities are designed to make everyday lessons more engaging and interactive.

Parents can also use the resources at home to practise English through short, enjoyable activities rather than traditional worksheets alone.

We recommend starting with one of our free resources or games, seeing how learners respond, and then exploring the wider Little Lion English collection.

Implementation steps

Choose a resource
Visit littlelionenglish.com and choose a resource that suits your learners. Teachers and parents can start with a free game, worksheet, learning pack or classroom tool. Select something that matches the children’s age, English level and lesson goal before introducing it in class or at home.
Prepare the activity
Download and print any materials you need, or open the chosen game or classroom tool in a web browser. Teachers can display interactive activities on a computer, tablet or interactive whiteboard. Review the activity briefly beforehand and decide whether learners will complete it individually, in pairs, small groups or as a whole class.
Use it with learners
Introduce the activity clearly and let learners take an active role. Use the games, worksheets or classroom tools to practise key vocabulary, phonics, speaking, listening or review skills. Encourage participation, repetition and teamwork so that children are learning English while staying engaged and enjoying the activity.
Reinforce the learning
Follow up the activity with a related task so learners can practise the same language in a different way. For example, combine a game with a worksheet, colouring activity, story or speaking task. Reusing the same vocabulary across different activities helps children remember what they have learned and builds confidence.
Review and continue
Observe how learners respond and note which activities they enjoy and which areas need more practice. Repeat useful activities when needed, try related Little Lion English resources, and gradually build a routine around the games, worksheets and classroom tools. The aim is to keep English practice consistent, enjoyable and easy to continue.
