Stories With Mma

‘Fostering an Identity Based Education’

Many children consume digital content that entertains but does little to intentionally shape literacy, identity, or character development. Stories with Mma is an identity-based, media-powered curriculum platform that uses structured storytelling to strengthen reading skills, cultural confidence, and values formation.

The Change We Wish to See in Education Through Stories with Mma, we aim to transform education from rote learning to identity-based learning, where children discover their purpose early and cultivate it through skills and experiences. By combining storytelling with our Discovery Workbook and skill-building opportunities through our education partner like Clervo, children are guided to grow into self-aware, values-driven, problem solvers. Our long-term goal is to influence curriculum reform so that education nurtures not just literacy and knowledge, but personal purpose, critical thinking, and cultural grounding. We envision a generation of learners who understand who they are, what they value, and how to apply their skills to make meaningful contributions to their communities and the world.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

We created Stories with Mma because children spend hours on digital content that entertains but rarely guides them in understanding who they are or developing confidence and critical thinking. Our goal is to transform screen time into meaningful learning experiences that foster identity, literacy, skills and values, giving children the tools to grow into self-aware, confident problem solvers, and culturally grounded individuals.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

In practice, Stories with Mma is a multi-layered learning experience for children:

1. Story Videos: Short, engaging videos that tell culturally rooted, value-driven stories designed to improve literacy, spark imagination, and foster identity awareness.
2. Discovery Workbook: Each story comes with a guided workbook with activities, reflection prompts, and discussion questions that help children connect the story to their own lives, values, and cultural understanding.
3. Interactive Learning: Kids actively engage with the content - answering questions, drawing, writing, and reflecting - turning passive screen time into active learning.
4. Curriculum Alignment: The stories and activities are structured to complement early literacy and social-emotional learning objectives, making it usable both at home and in classrooms.
5. Growth Tracking: Over time, children build not only reading and comprehension skills, but also physical skills to become confident & self aware problem solvers with a sense of identity.

How has it been spreading?

Stories with Mma has been growing organically through a mix of digital reach and community engagement. The videos reach children and parents via YouTube, while the Discovery Workbook & skilling up encourages families and educators to share the stories as interactive learning tools. Word-of-mouth from parents, homeschool networks, and schools has been a key driver, and social media shares amplify the platform’s visibility. Early feedback shows children returning to the stories repeatedly, and parents sharing activities with friends, creating a viral, community-driven learning ecosystem.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

If you want to try Stories with Mma, here’s how to get started:

3. Engage Actively: Watch the story together, then explore the workbook-discuss, draw, write, or act out parts of the story. This active participation helps children strengthen literacy, discover their purpose, and cultivate skills that build self-awareness and problem-solving abilities.
