Across education systems globally, learning is fragmented. Academic achievement, social-emotional development, and human growth are treated as separate priorities—despite overwhelming evidence that they are inextricable and develop in tandem. This fragmentation leads to disengagement, behavioral challenges, educator burnout, and inequitable outcomes. xSELeratED Schools was created to address this systemic disconnect, not by adding another program, but by redefining how teaching and learning occur.
At its core is a simple but transformative premise: Social-Emotional Learning isn't something we implement. It is how we show up. Our xSELeratED Schools Framework integrates neuroscience, SEL, and educator practice into a cohesive system that aligns how students learn, how educators are prepared, and how systems sustain change. Our work emerged both from research and lived experience in classrooms, leadership, and systems-level implementation, bridging theory and the realities of schools.
Our xSELeratED Schools Framework and field guide system are embedded into educator preparation, professional learning, and classroom practice, built around five interdependent competencies: Understanding Myself, Nurturing Myself, Understanding Others, Nurturing Others, and Building a Better World. These competencies form a living system that begins with individual awareness and extends to collective impact.
In practice, educators integrate social-emotional development into daily instruction, making it inseparable from academic learning rather than an additional layer. Schools implement small, repeatable practices that compound into cultural change. Institutions embed the framework into coursework and professional learning systems. The accompanying field guide structures implementation through the natural rhythms of the school year, making the work sustainable and context-responsive rather than initiative-driven. This results in improved student engagement and belonging, stronger educator-student relationships, increased educator confidence, and more coherent and human-centered school systems.
Our xSELeratED Schools Framework scales through educator-centered integration rather than program distribution. The model spreads by embedding into higher education teacher preparation programs, professional learning systems, and classroom practice. Educators adopt the framework and apply it directly in their own contexts, enabling immediate impact without requiring system-wide mandates.
In the past two years, the innovation has expanded across multiple settings through both formal and self-directed adoption. Its growth is driven by a multiplier design in which each trained educator applies the framework to multiple cohorts of students over time. xSELeratED Schools is further supported by a published practitioner field guide and a growing digital platform community, extending access beyond formal training environments. More than 2,000 educators engage with the framework through this platform, enabling ongoing learning, application, and sharing of practices across contexts. This multi-channel approach allows the innovation to spread through both structured systems and individual educator adoption, creating compounding impact over time. What begins in individual classrooms can expand into shared practice across teams, institutions, and systems. To date, we have reached more than 6,000 students by first reaching their teachers.
Educators can begin implementing our xSELeratED Schools Framework immediately, in their own classrooms, without a formal mandate or even system-wide adoption. The framework is designed to meet educators where they are. By starting with small, intentional shifts in how they show up, how they build relationships, and how they structure learning experiences, educators can begin integrating social-emotional development into daily practice right away. This might look like incorporating brief reflective routines, strengthening classroom relationships, or intentionally creating conditions for belonging and engagement. These small practices are designed to be practical, repeatable, and impactful, even in a single classroom. The xSELeratED Schools Framework is built on the belief that meaningful change does not need to start at the top of a system. Individual educators can create powerful shifts in student experience and outcomes through their daily interactions and instructional choices.
At the same time, the model is designed for scale and wide adoption. As more educators incorporate these practices, they create alignment across classrooms, teams, and eventually entire institutions. What begins as individual implementation can grow into shared practice, professional learning, and system-level integration. Anyone can begin this work today, in the context they are already in, while contributing to a larger movement toward more human-centered, integrated education systems.
