We created this innovation to address a growing mismatch between the mining industry’s demand for advanced digital skills and the limited access to quality training for local youth. Mining Tech Bridge responds to this gap by aligning real job needs with inclusive, demand-driven learning pathways, enabling talent to thrive while strengthening the future of Mining 4.0
Mining Tech Bridge operates as a comprehensive talent development pathway structured in three phases.
The first phase focuses on outreach, assessment, and selection through a short e-learning program that identifies motivation, digital aptitude, and commitment, prioritizing potential over formal academic credentials.
The second phase consists of a six-month intensive bootcamp, co-designed with the mining industry, where participants develop digital and technological competencies aligned with real Mining 4.0 roles through hands-on training, mentorship, and applied projects.
The final phase supports workforce integration through job readiness preparation, direct connections with companies, and a recruitment-focused Demo Day. The entire process incorporates continuous monitoring and personalized support.
Mining Tech Bridge is currently in a pilot phase in the city of Antofagasta, with a strong territorial focus. Outreach efforts have been carried out through partnerships with technical-vocational schools, community networks, and stakeholders from the mining industry, prioritizing the direct engagement of local youth.
Over the next two to three years, the goal is to scale the model to new cohorts, engage additional mining sector companies, and adapt the experience to other territories in northern Chile, consolidating a replicable and sustainable model for youth training and employability.
We will collaborate closely with industry, academia, and public sector stakeholders to strengthen the training pathway. Industry will help align content with real Mining 4.0 roles; academia will reinforce quality and certification; and public actors will support outreach and regional alignment. This collaboration will enhance relevance, scalability, and long-term sustainability.
We will first organize working groups with representatives from industry, the public sector, and universities to ensure collaborative design and effective execution. Additionally, other organizations interested in participating may contact our team to learn more about the model and explore opportunities for collaboration.
