Intuitivo

Teachers' best friend

Intuitivo is an all-in-one digital assessment platform. Teachers create exercises, build tests, auto-grade and get competency analytics. Students receive instant feedback. We power Portugal's national exams (100K+ concurrent students) and serve 49K+ teachers and 188 schools, grown 100% by word-of-mouth. AI generates exercises and imports content from PDFs. Expanding to Brazil and Europe.

Target group
Assessment today is broken in most schools worldwide. Teachers create tests on paper, print stacks, distribute, collect, grade manually one by one, record scores in spreadsheets, and return papers days or weeks later. By the time a student sees their result, the learning moment is gone. The teacher has no real-time data on what the class understands. Decisions about what to teach next are based on intuition, not evidence. We want to change this at three levels. For teachers: assessment should take minutes, not hours. When grading is automatic and analytics are instant, teachers reclaim time every single week. That time goes back to what matters: preparing better lessons, supporting struggling students, having conversations that change lives. The mission is clear: less time grading, more time teaching. For students: every assessment should be a learning opportunity, not just a judgment. When students receive detailed feedback the moment they submit, they understand what they got wrong and why. Assessment stops being something that happens to them and becomes something that helps them grow. For education systems: decisions should be informed by data, not assumptions. When schools and ministries have real-time competency analytics across classrooms, they can identify gaps early, allocate resources where they matter, and measure whether interventions actually work. Portugal's national exams running on Intuitivo already demonstrate this at scale.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Teachers spend less than half their time actually teaching. The rest goes to administrative tasks, with assessment at the top: creating tests, printing, distributing, manually grading, recording scores, providing feedback. This cycle consumes hours every week and produces infrequent evaluations, delayed feedback, and no real visibility into what each student has mastered.

The founders experienced this firsthand in Portugal. In 2022, they tried selling directly to schools with a B2B approach and closed exactly one school in an entire year. The problem was clear: teachers had no reason to trust a tool they had never used. So in 2023 they opened the platform for free, letting any teacher sign up and start creating assessments immediately. That decision changed everything.

UNESCO projects that over 50% of teachers worldwide will leave the workforce by 2030. Only 46% of a teacher's time is spent teaching (EdWeek, 2022). The assessment bottleneck is not a convenience problem. It is a structural failure that accelerates teacher burnout and limits student learning. Intuitivo was created to fix this by automating what machines do better (grading, data collection, feedback delivery) so teachers can focus on what only humans can do: teach, mentor, and intervene where students need help.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

A teacher logs into Intuitivo, creates an assessment using the exercise editor (20+ question types available), or uses AI Generate to produce exercises from a simple description aligned to the curriculum. They can also import existing content from PDFs using AI Import, which extracts and structures questions automatically.

The teacher builds a test using templates, sets the distribution method (link, class code, or scheduled delivery), and shares it with students. Students complete the assessment on any device with a browser. The moment they submit, they receive automatic grading and detailed feedback on each answer.

On the teacher side, results appear in real time. Analytics show performance by student, by question, and by competency. Teachers see exactly which learning objectives the class has mastered and where gaps remain. This data informs what to teach next, not weeks later when grades are manually entered, but immediately.

For collaboration, teachers share exercises and tests through Groups and the Explore page, a community library organized by curriculum and subject. Content created by one teacher becomes available to thousands.

At national exam scale, the platform handles 100,000+ concurrent students taking high-stakes assessments simultaneously, as demonstrated through the IAVE partnership for Portugal's national exams. The same platform that serves a single classroom serves an entire country.

How has it been spreading?

100% organic growth through teacher word-of-mouth until 2025. No marketing spend, no sales team pushing adoption. The strategy is product-led growth (B2C2B): teachers discover the platform for free, use it in their classrooms, then recommend it to their school administration.

The numbers tell the story. From 757 registered users in January 2023 to 49,294 by December 2025. From 2 paying schools to 188 in three years. Over 200 schools arrived through an organic recommendation form on the website, where teachers formally suggest their institution adopt the platform.

The growth loop works because the product removes barriers. A teacher signs up, creates their first test in minutes, sees automatic grading work, and tells colleagues. Groups and the Explore page create network effects: the more teachers share content, the more valuable the platform becomes for everyone.

The IAVE national exam partnership accelerated awareness significantly. When every student in Portugal takes exams on your platform, teachers and school directors notice. This institutional credibility converted into school-level adoption.

In 2025, paid acquisition started through Google Ads across 8 markets (Portugal, Brazil, Spain, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, UK, USA). Brazil showed the strongest results: highest sign-up volume at the lowest cost per acquisition.

How have you modified or added to your innovation?

The platform has evolved significantly since launch. The original product focused on basic test creation and automatic grading. Each iteration responded to real teacher feedback and usage data.

AI features were the biggest addition. AI Generate lets teachers describe what they need and produces curriculum-aligned exercises in seconds. AI Import extracts questions from existing PDFs and documents, solving the problem of teachers who have years of paper-based content they want to digitize. Automatic grading of open-ended responses using AI is on the 2026 roadmap.

The Explore page transformed the platform from a tool into a community. Teachers browse, use, and contribute exercises organized by curriculum and subject. This peer-reviewed content library grows with every teacher who joins.

Groups enabled collaboration between colleagues within and across schools, turning assessment preparation from a solo activity into a shared one.

The B2G exam board capability was built to serve IAVE for Portugal's national exams, requiring infrastructure that handles 100,000+ concurrent users with zero downtime during high-stakes testing windows. This enterprise-grade reliability then benefited all users.

Student accounts and insights are being developed to give learners their own view of progress and learning gaps. LMS integration (Google Classroom, Moodle) is in development to meet schools where they already work.

Implementation steps

Sign up for free
Visit intuitivo.pt and create an account with email or Microsoft. No credit card, no approval process, no installation. The teacher is inside the platform in under a minute.
Create your first exercises
Use the exercise editor to build questions from scratch (20+ question types: multiple choice, fill the gap, matching, ordering, open-ended, and more). Alternatively, use AI Generate to describe what you need ("10 multiple choice questions on photosynthesis for 9th grade") and the platform creates them. Teachers with existing paper content can use AI Import to upload a PDF and extract exercises automatically.
Build a test
Combine exercises into a test using templates. Or skip manual creation entirely: ask AI Generate to build a complete test from a description ("a 10-question biology test on cell division for 8th grade"), or use AI Import to upload a physical test as PDF and the platform digitizes it automatically. Set scoring rules, time limits, shuffle options, and feedback settings. The test is ready to distribute.
Share with students
Distribute via link or assign directly to classes. Students access on any device with a browser. No app download, no student account required for basic access. *For schools and government exam boards, the platform supports screen lockdown applications and automatic test assignment to class groups, ensuring secure high-stakes assessment conditions.
Review results and analytics
The teacher sees real-time results: performance by student, by question, and by competency. The analytics show which learning objectives the class has mastered and where gaps remain. This informs what to teach next.
Adjust and deliver final results
Review the auto-graded results. Correct or override any answers where the teacher's judgment matters. Add personalized feedback to individual students. We believe AI saves time, but the teacher must stay in the loop. Once the teacher is satisfied with grades and feedback, share final results with students automatically via email.
